Myomectomy is a procedure to remove fibroids or myomas from the uterus. Fibroids are made up of muscle cells, and connective tissues and are usually not cancerous. These growths are located inside the muscle of the uterus and can be present as one or many fibroids. During myomectomy, fibroids are extracted, and the uterus is repaired. Unlike after hysterectomy(a procedure to remove the uterus), women who undergo a myomectomy can become pregnant.
It is a surgical procedure conducted to remove an ovarian cyst or tumour while keeping the ovary and fertility intact. These cysts are sacs filled with fluid formed within the ovaries and covered by a thin layer. An ovarian follicle that is greater than 3 centimetres can be called an ovarian cyst.
It is an operation conducted to remove the uterus. After a hysterectomy, the patient no longer menstruates and cannot become pregnant. A hysterectomy may be needed to treat gynaecological cancer, fibroids, endometriosis, uterine prolapse, abnormal vaginal bleeding, adenomyosis, and chronic pelvic pain.
A septate uterus is an innate or congenital abnormality. A septate uterus does not usually affect a woman’s ability to conceive; however, it considerably increases their risk of a miscarriage. Females with a septate uterus have an increased risk of both miscarriage and recurrent miscarriage. Septum removal is a procedure to correct this abnormality.
Polypectomy is the removal of a polyp. A polyp is an abnormal collection of tissue. A polypectomy removes polyps that are causing symptoms, that may be cancerous, or that need to be examined.
